The first ArtBox project was completed in April 2014, in collaboration with Bal Sahyog, a children’s organisation in Delhi, India. ArtBox is a very simple idea; a box of art materials are sent to setting and given out to participants. Using the materials, the participants create a response to a question or a set of questions relating to their life, aspirations, personal situation or future. The exact areas are discussed before hand with the partner organisation and participants.
The completed work is then scanned and sent back to us at tribe, for us to showcase on the website. A copy of the completed publication is also sent to the participating organisation. ArtBox is simple, cheap to run, and can create some amazing outcomes and learning experiences, as well as some fantastic art! The best thing about it is that the participants get to see their work ‘in print’, shown to the world via an established publication.
